WASHINGTON, Friday, September 24, 2004 In response to the recent hurricanes in the southeast region, Toyota has donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund in support of relief efforts in Florida, Alabama and other states impacted by Hurricane Ivan and other recent storms. This donation brings Toyota companies’ total contribution to $1.5 million for hurricane relief efforts.
The funds will provide food, water, shelter, counseling and other essential items to families left devastated by the recent storms.
“Toyota has an engine manufacturing plant in Huntsville and a number of dealers and suppliers throughout the South,” said Dennis Cuneo, senior vice president, Toyota Motor North America. “We are happy to partner with JM Family Enterprises and Southeast Toyota on this donation, which we hope will provide help to those impacted by the storms.”
Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc, Toyota Motor North America, Inc., and Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. donated $250,000, earmarked for Alabama relief efforts. Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC and its parent company, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., donated the other $250,000, earmarked for hurricane relief in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
“The scope of these recent hurricanes and storms has placed huge demands on the American Red Cross,” said Skip Seitz, Senior Vice President, Growth and Integrated Development of the American Red Cross. “It is only with the generosity and leadership of companies like Toyota that we can meet those needs.”
