Learn About Blood Donation
Want to give blood?
It's easy to save lives by giving blood. But we know that giving blood can be scary for first-time donors.
What's blood donation all about?
This section answers frequently asked questions about the donation process and explains how the Red Cross puts every pint of blood collected through strenuous safety measures.
Anytime is a good time to donate blood. The Red Cross collects blood all four seasons of the year across the country. Seasonal shortages frequently occur during summer and winter holidays, when people are traveling and are not in their normal blood donation routine.
Patients need your help. It's estimated that less than 5% of eligible donors give blood. Don't be part of the 95%. Give blood! You'll experience a fulfilling sense of contribution. And the donation process isn't time-consuming. It only takes about one hour.
For more information, visit the Learn About Blood Donation section, and review the donor eligibility guidlines.
To find out where you can donate blood, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or contact your local Red Cross. Your single donation can help save up to three lives.
