African American HIV/AIDS Program

African American HIV/AIDS Program

"Don't Forget Sherrie"

  • Video. A "docudrama" showing a group of young people reacting to news of a friend with AIDS and assessing their own risks. Followed by the video segment Sister to Sister, featuring two sisters talking about sexuality, decision-making, and HIV infection.
  • Participant Workbook. Contains activities for young people focusing on learning the facts about HIV and AIDS, applying the facts, and using the decision-making process.
  • Leader's Guide. This guide provides teachers and youth leaders with background information, lesson plans, and instructional activities to share age-appropriate HIV/AIDS information with youth.

These materials are suitable for young people, parents, or guardians living in African American or multicultural communities. Useful for starting discussions about HIV/AIDS, human sexuality, and for enhancing decision-making skills and increasing self-protective behaviors for African American youth.
