Expanding Maternal and Child Health and Reproductive Health Services
The American Red Cross is working with five other agencies to improve health services in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The project’s goal is to improve the maternal and child health and reproductive health of more than 1 million mothers and children in three oblasts of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, through improvements in service delivery and community mobilization. The project’s objectives include increasing information and education about personal health care, rights and responsibilities among the target population; strengthening community organizations to inform and advocate for safe motherhood; reproductive health and child health initiatives; and increasing the capacity of community organizations to manage safe motherhood, reproductive or child health initiatives.
