Child Survival Program
Cambodia has among the highest rates of child morbidity and mortality in Southeast Asia. After decades of civil war, the public health system is weak and community-based health service delivery is inadequate to meet public needs. The American Red Cross is working with Cambodia Red Cross to reduce childhood illness and death by promoting improved nutrition and breastfeeding, encouraging full immunization of children, and supporting the better management of common childhood illnesses such as malaria, pneumonia, and diarrheal diseases. The program also aims to increase the organizational, programmatic and human resources capacity of the Cambodian Red Cross to manage and sustain a successful community-based child health programs.
