KALAMAZOO (May 14, 2024) – The American Red Cross will staff a resource table at two upcoming Multi-Agency Resource Center events to help residents in their recovery after last week’s tornadoes in Southwest Michigan.
The so-called MARC events bring together a coalition of disaster relief agencies to provide assistance and resources to people after a disaster. The Red Cross is among at least a dozen nonprofit and volunteer-based agencies participating in the events organized by Gryphon Place. The events will be held:
Residents who are unable to attend the MARC events can call 211 for assistance.
More than 80 Red Cross volunteers and staff are supporting its disaster relief operation in southwest Michigan, where hundreds of homes were destroyed or damaged by the tornadoes. The Red Cross has operated a shelter at First Assembly of God, 5550 Oakland Drive, since last Tuesday, May 7.
